May 7 is just around the corner and in case you’ve missed it (are you living under a rock?!) we have a little event coming up that day – our GRAND OPENING! I thought it might be time to share a few details on what will be happening that day…
Ribbon Cutting
We open our doors at 10:00 a.m. and we’ll kick off the day with a brief ribbon cutting ceremony at our main entrance at 602 State Street. We use the center porch entrance outside the building and will gather in the hallway just inside those doors. Eeeek! So exciting!
Mom’s Day Off Contest Winner
During our ribbon cutting ceremony we will announce the winner of our Mom’s Day Off Contest. We had some awesome nominations and it was so hard to choose a winner out of ALL of the deserving mamas. Our recipient is truly worthy of a day of pampering, and she’ll be winning a prize package from Hatchlings & Hens, Pure Serenity Massage and Goodlookin’ Hair Salon!
Drawings
If you’re not too distracted by all of the cuteness once you’re inside, be sure to enter the drawing for prizes. We’re giving away our signature red Locally Grown Clothing Co. t-shirt (winner’s choice of size) PLUS a newborn care package, which includes several goodies handmade right in the state of Iowa!
Refreshments
We’re planning a small spread of sweets, hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Just a little something to tickle your taste buds. (wink, wink)
Giveaways
When people ask me what kind of store I own I always say – we focus on handmade goods for kids and moms. So it seems only fitting that we honor moms during Mother’s Day Weekend. The first 100 mamas through the door will receive a special Mother’s Day gift. Just a little something to say thank you for all you do!
Make & Take Craft Studio
This little side of the shop is where all the magic happens. And it’s also the part I get the most questions about. So curb your curiosity, pull up a chair, and get a little creative! The craft studio will be open to walk-ins throughout the day. Once you see how much fun it is – I know you’re going to want to book a private party!
I have absolutely NO idea what to expect on this day. I’ve been teetering between thinking I’ll be entertaining the chirping crickets in the corner – and anxiety about handling the giant crowd in my quaint little store. I’d prefer the later – so please stop by and say hi if you’re in the neighborhood that day. I’ve been working my tail feathers off to make this day as special for you as it will be for me. I promise you won’t be disappointed. And besides…it’s a happy little place…and the smiles are FREE!
